About Joe Expertise I do not know much about the rules or the technical sides of the game, but I can give information on all equipment, handles, heads, helmets, and some stringing styles.
Experience Due to the lack of teams in my area during my school years, I have never played. I have worked for a major retailer for over 9 years. I manage the operations now, but I have done everything from sales to stringing (limited to mesh).
Question i play girls lax for my highschool. ive been using the schools equipment but want my own stick and helmet for this coming season. which stringing would you recommend for a goalie (hard vs. soft vs. monster)?
ps. do you know anywhere i could find a custom colors pink helmet?
Answer Molly,
If you have been playing for a while, I would recomend a hard mesh stringing. You can build a nice deep pocket into it, and it will stay there. This allows you to have consistent and accurate clearing passes. The soft mesh is better if you do not have good catching skills, but not very good for throwing. I personally do not like the monster mesh. It is very hard to build a pocket in, and does not give you that much more control over the hard mesh pocket. As far as the helmet goes, I have checked with a few of the helmet manufacturers that we deal with, and they do not make a helmet in pink. A few people told me that you can try spray painting it. I think that would look bad, and chip very easy. The only other option would be to strip the helmet down, and dye it. This is a very hard process (impossible with some helmets, because of the way they are assembled), and I would recomend against that also. Unfortunatley, I think you might be out of luck on that one. Hope I was able to help you out a little bit. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.
