About Scott Talbot Expertise I am familiar with the local geography, tourist attractions, industry and culture. I live in Lancaster, and, if I do not have the answer to a question, I could easily find someone local who does.
Experience I have lived in Lancaster my entire life. I grew up here, attended school here, worked here, got married here, am rearing my son here. This is my home.

Question Scott,
We will be in Strasburg for a couple of days the week after next. My four-year-old son is a huge fan of trains, especially toy trains.
I know there's a slew of attractions in Strasburg, but are there any that stand out, in your opinion? What are the must-visits, and what can we pass up without feeling like we missed something?
We are staying in Lancaster, and I hear there's a very interesting central market there.
Thanks for your help,
Mike
Answer Hi, Mike!
You DO know, don't you, that there are some wonderful train attractions in Strasburg that your son (and the rest of the family) will really enjoy. In fact, if you said you're looking for train "stuff," I'd direct you to Strasburg.
First, you must ride the Strasburg Railroad a mile or two east of the square in Strasburg. It's an old-time train which takes you on a leisurely ride through scenic farmland. Don't skip that.
Second, across the street from the Strasburg Railroad is a great train museum with a large number of train engines, cars, cabooses ... the works.
In the center of Strasburg is a terrific old fashioned general store with homemade ice cream. It's the best ice cream on the planet. Trust me. They even make their own cones. They are to die for.
If you like, you can shop for souveniers in the store, and even choose from a wide selection of penny candy--the kind you used to see as a kid.
Just north of the square on Route 896 is Sight and Sound, a Christian production company which is currently doing "Daniel." It's Broadway quality stuff, but with wholesome values. It's really worth seeing, and I'll bet even your son would enjoy that.
There's so much more in the Lancaster area. Yes, the Central Market in the center of downtown Lancaster is nice. There's Dutch Wonderland, an amusement park geared towards younger children. (It's just to the east of Lancaster, on Lincoln Highway East/Route 30.)
