I have lived in Lancaster my entire life. I grew up here, attended school here, worked here, got married here, am rearing my son here. This is my home.

Question
i am always at green dragon every chance i get. i have seen all tourist shops.i'm looking for another flea market on fridays, and great finds off the beat and path discount amish made furniture small pieces shelving etc.please helpthank you very much kathy

Answer
Hi, Kathy.

Discount Amish-made furniture is something of an oxymoron. It's like "jumbo shrimp" or "working vacation." If it's made by Amish, it probably isn't very cheap. Not as a rule.

As for flea markets, there's Green Dragon (open Fridays), Roots Country Auction (Tuesdays), and the shops along Route 272 in Adamstown (Sundays).

From your message, I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I can give you a few suggestions. If you go to Leola and New Holland (along Route 23), you will find a handful of homes or small shops where hand-made furniture is sold (usually Amish). In and around Intercourse is also a great place to look, including Kitchen Kettle Village.

Another place you might like is Country Creations at 321 North Star Road, Strasburg (Phone 717.687.8743). Their website address is www.countrycreationspa.com. My wife and I really enjoy looking around there. There's a lot to see at one location, and it's all in a large old barn.

Have you been to the Olde Mill House Shoppe on 105 Strasburg Pike, Lancaster, or Maple Croft at the corner of
Penn Grant Road and Beaver Valley Pike (Route 222) in Willow Street, PA? You may like those, too.

I hope this helps. If not, feel free to write back again and provide me with more details on what you're looking for.

Scott
