Question I have a 2000 Disco II. I put the car in park and then I could not remove the key. Additionally the car will now not start. I removed the battery cables and that allowed me to remove the key. When I tried to start the vehicle it would not start and key got stuck again. Is this a dealer only fix or can I do it?
Answer Hi Tracey,
interesting problem. Could be park neutral switch, brake switch or the actual ignition key tumbler itself. Another possible cause could be within the security system. All are best tested and repaired by the dealer. Its possible to repair the brake switch (up under the dash and on the brake pedal arm) and if you need the techsheets on this, just send me an email request.
At this point, I am more inclined to think its a problem within the Park\neutral switch. I have the techsheets on this and if you are willing to do this repair, I can send this to you.
