Owner of a Discovery. I've had many mishaps with our Disco but I still like this vehicle. Talk to a fellow LR owner instead of a dealership rep. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just an owner who wants to help others.

Land Rover Repair - Driving with out a prop

Expert: John McInnis - 11/2/2009

Question
Hi
The front prop on my 1996 Land Rover Discovery V8i has broken. The day before it broke it started vibrating horribly.
My first question is;what would be a likely cause of this?
My second question is;will it do damage to anything if i drive it in High with Diff Lock on?

Thanks in advance
Sacha

Answer
Hi Sacha,

Not sure of cause - could be CV failure, no fluid, seal broke...

as for driving with diff locked and in high ... you can do this but keep the speed below 50 kph or you'll do damage to the transmission.  You'll hear the rev's and this should indicate that rpm's are too high.  Don't do any highway driving like this.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
