Question How long should a dealership honor a repair job for a gasket job?

if it were up to me, I'd say at a year (parts and labour). There are local state and provinical laws that regulate mandatory gaurantees on work such as this. Some less reputable repair shops will try to ignore them but you can find out from your local consumer protection agency, AAA or CAA.
A $3K gasket - that has to be the headgasket. Here in Quebec Canada, our provincial law states a 3 month or 5000 km guarantee exists on all repairs over $50.
I'm sure most other states and provinces have the same, if not better, laws in place.
