AboutJohn McInnis Expertise Land Rover Discovery.
I've had most of the common mechanical failures, altenator, water leaks, wiper failure, door/hinge problems, roof rust, floor rust, loads of electrical problems. Remember, I'm not a dealer or a mechanic, just an owner like most of you.
Experience
Experience Owner of a Discovery. I've had many mishaps with our Disco but I still like this vehicle. Talk to a fellow LR owner instead of a dealership rep. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just an owner who wants to help others.
Question I have a 1998 110 CSW, my remote would not disarm the alarm. The courtesy light came on but the red light still flashed showing the it was still armed. It would arm it ( 3 flashes of indicators ) but not disarm. I tried a new battery in th e remote but now it won't respond at all. I won't be able to get into the vehicle without setting off the alarm now - any advice ?
Answer Hi Sam,
for my Disco, if the key is inserted into the drivers door, turned to the lock/unlock position and held there for about 8 seconds, it will override the security system. Perhaps you can try this out.
It does sound like the remote is no longer recognized. To resync the remote, click the button 4 times just outside the vehicle (within range).
If those don't help, it could be an electrical short, perhaps a ground fault, for the alarm system.
