Experience Owner of a Discovery. I've had many mishaps with our Disco but I still like this vehicle. Talk to a fellow LR owner instead of a dealership rep. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just an owner who wants to help others.
Question I have a 1998 Disco 1, when it rains the parking lights, and sometimes the electric fans come on. I have cleaned the sun roof drains and sealed the front windshield but still did not sole the problem. What else could cause my problem?
Answer Hi Andrew,
could be corroded harness connections. Take the time to check the light socket connections and fans for corrosion and short (common problem) and clean with electrical contact cleaner. Water, oil and road grime works it's way into the electrical harness and causes all sorts of problems.
Take a good look around the interior fusebox. Many owners reported water damage had forced them to replace the fusebox because of corrosion. No such thing as waterproof connections on a LR and water leakage is very common. Unbelieveable but true.
