Experience
Owner of a Discovery. I've had many mishaps with our Disco but I still like this vehicle. Talk to a fellow LR owner instead of a dealership rep. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just an owner who wants to help others.

Land Rover Repair - where is O2 sensor position?

Expert: John McInnis - 6/27/2009

Question
I have Range Rover 1991 V8 3.9L and Discovery 1996 V8i 3.9L too. But I can't found O2 sensor. Where is O2 position and where is should to plug other side cable O2 sensor? what range and disco use to catalytic converter Y too? Because there is no catalytic converter in both.My car consumption 1L:5km.Is this extravagant fuel?

Answer
Hi Disyon,

send me an email and I'll reply with some technical notes to help you out with the 02 sensors.

On my '95 Disco (much like your '96), I can get over 600kms for a tank of gas (90 litres).  Your calculation gives you 450kms which is about 25% less than average.  Unless, of course, you are driving with extra large tires, loaded roof rack, rough mountain roads, etc.

I've seen Disco's with the cat's removed.  Someone cut open the pipe, did the deed then welded it closed.

Regards,

JohnMc
