Experience
Experience Owner of a Discovery. I've had many mishaps with our Disco but I still like this vehicle. Talk to a fellow LR owner instead of a dealership rep. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just an owner who wants to help others.
Question Hi - I have an 04 Discovery. The rear left passenger door and the front passenger door no longer lock or unlock with the key clicker or the button by the radio... Is it a matter of a fuse or am I looking at a more expensive repair?
Thanks,
Jennifer
Answer Hi Jennifer,
if you are still under warranty - get your Disco to the dealer quick. Door lock problems are a constant with LR's and yes it can be expensive.
Make sure your key fob (key clicker) battery is new. Most lock problems have to do with the latch itself but sometimes the electrical harness shorts out. Best to have someone experienced with LR door locks to do this job. Once the door panels are removed, there is not much room to work around the latch. So an experienced LR technician can get in and do the testing and replace or adjust the latch - quickly.
I had the dealer replace A door latch and it cost me $120. ouch.
