Question On my '02 Freelander HSE, the front passenger door lock no longer locks or unlocks with the key fob or the dash switch. All the other doors lock and unlock properly. What is the probable cause of the failure?
Thank you..
Answer Hi Randy,
it's possible that it could be the front door latch itself. I would suspect this as you mention all other doors function correctly. Could be a problem within the latch, the sill button lock rod or something else (electrical harness...). You could try removing the door panel, peeling back the plastic vapour barrier and then disconnect / reconnect the harness plug. With the latch exposed (of sorts) watch what happens when the lock is activated. If there is no movement at all, chances are you'll have to replace the latch.
Best of luck,
