Landscaping & Design - Retaining wall repair

Expert: Jonathan Radford - 7/11/2008

Question
Is it possible to repair a 2x12 wooden retaining wall without taking it out and starting afresh?  Tree that will be removed has forced the top board and the nearest post out.

Answer
Hello and sorry for not having got back to you earlier
I would say that this a great time to get rid of the wood and either place some large rocks or build a small wall to hold the soil up.

Wood just isn't a solution for this job and replacing it will only mean that you will have to do the same job all over again, every 10 years or so.

Good luck
