Landscaping & Design - pea gravel

Question
the walkways in european gardens have tiny gravel.  how can i achieve that exact look here in the states?  the small gravel i am looking at does not seem quite right.
thank you.

Answer
Hello Randy, sorry if I couldn't get back to you sooner.

The gravel you need is generally beige in color and must be river washed i.e. of a smooth, rounded nature. Gravel should be laid to around 4 or 5 inches deep over a dividing fabric. However it is the planting that will suggest a Mediterranean/European feel.

Thanks for any ratings for this question in advance
