Question QUESTION: What is the differences between & how 2 use them
-if i am
-if i was
-if i were
-Thanks a lot-
ANSWER: The difference between am and was: am is present tense and was is past.
I am sick with the flu.
I was sick with the flu last week.
The difference between was and were: was is singular and were is plural.
I was sick last week.
The students were all sick last week.
It is a common error to say 'if I were going...' but it is bad grammar.
Hope that helps.

QUESTION: Thank you!!!But i heard that someone said if i were you.....,& if i was a bird.......
How to use it in different places? Thanks again.
Answer Yes...
'if I was a bird' is technically past tense because you can't explain it until you already tried it...
And I know people say 'if I were you' but that doesn't make 'if I was you' any less correct. You would use were in this instance if we were talking about a group...'if the boys were here' or to get the example closer 'if the boys were girls' or 'if the people were birds'
