Language Arts for Kids - personification

Expert: Debra Duenas - 2/13/2007

Question
Is "The lights were buzzing" personification? I say not because lights can actually buzz, and more importantly people don't buzz.

Answer
First, I would like to apologize about the late answer.  I know it is probably too late to be useful.  I usually get an e-mail notifying me of questions and this time I didn't.  I really apologize.

This is a tough question.  I'd say no...because some lights can actually make a buzzing sound.  It comes from electricity and does not suggest that the lights are busy in any way, as if they were bees.
