Question I have a Inspiron 6000. The display if plugged in goes black. If running on battery display is red in color.
What are my options?
Unit is about three years old.
Answer Hi Cliff, sorry to say it, but that red color usually indicates that the display is failing. You could try plugging in a regular external monitor to make sure the picture displays correctly there. If the external monitor looks good, that would eliminate the possibility of a video card problem.
The display can be replaced, and they're usually readily available on ebay. The service manuals are available on Dell's website as well.
