Laptop Problems - touchpad not working

Expert: Shot - 4/17/2008

Question
I am using HP pavilion 6000 series laptop since three months. Since last week I am not able to press 'enter' on the touchpad. Other actions like moving cursor on the screen, and using left and right buttons (bottom) on the touchpad are working fine. The only problem is with cliking 'enter' on the touchpad, as the cursor doesn't select the objects/characters displayed on the monitor. As an alternative, I am using the left side button at the bottom of the touchpad to press 'enter' and select on the screen.

Please suggest a remedy to this problem.

Answer
Hi Rekha, I don't have that particular model around to check on, but normally there are adjustments in the control panel which will turn features like this on and off, and adjust their sensitivity. See if you can find that setting, make sure it's on and adjusted correctly.

If it is, I would try going to HP's website, downloading the latest driver for the touchpad and reinstalling it.
