Question
Hello there,
I have been given a laptop( Toshiba 430 CDS/1.3 Model# PA 1230U VCD.
Ever since i got it, when i switch it on it doesn't display anything on the screen but a faint light, however the on light lits and another sign is of betterly if ain't mistaken and it displays as full,
Can u let me know whats the problem, could there be a damaged device?

regards,

Justine

Answer
Hi Justine, first I would try plugging in a regular monitor to see if the display works there. If it does, then there is a problem with the laptop display only.

If it does not, then I would try booting it from a diagnostic CD or Floppy disk to see if it will come on at all. If it does, you can run some diagnostics to narrow down the problem.

Boot CDs and floppies can be found for free, like the ones at UltimateBootCD.com or BootDisk.com

Good luck!
