Expert: Mohammad Babaee - 7/18/2008

Question
QUESTION: I bought a fairly use laptop (Dell Latitude D410). Then now i need to format and load Windows operating system afresh again. But the problem i have is that the Administrative access is denied by a password. I could not set the laptop to boot from CDROM. Pls how can i remove the administrative password or how can i boot from the CDROM without the administrative password.

ANSWER: Hi Timmy;

First, you have to go to the setup. Then put your CD drive in the first priority of boot devices. Then save settings and exit the setup.
This will read your CD before loading windows from the HDD.

QUESTION: I can not even access the setup cos its being protected by the same administrative password. More also, it does not have a CDROM.

ANSWER: Hi;

I think you mean you have put a password on the Bios, am I right?
Removing the Bios password is not your work.
If you have put the password on the windows, you can run the laptop's setup at the start up usually by pressing F8 button.
Please let me know about where you have put the password on at: mohammad[at]wmage[dot]com

QUESTION: The password is on the bios. The adminstrative password in the bios.

Answer
Ok Timmy; first let the battery go off, sometimes in some laptops the bios settings are deleted by doing this.
If this doesn't work, show it to a technician. They'll open the case and delete it with removing the bios battery(if included)

Wish You Success
