Subject: Life of a 6 cell battery.

Question
How long does a 6 cell battery last for a laptop, that's an Acer Extensa EX5620 - 4025?

Answer
Hi Mausi;

First notice that the battery life for a Laptop Computer depends on the following things facts:
-the cells in the battery
-processor model and speed
-LCD brightness
-wireless card(enabling it uses extra power)
-LCD size
-connected components which use the battery to run(like those connected through the USB port)
-kind of work you are doing(word processing use less power than Playing a 3D video game)

The Acer EX5620-4025 uses an Intel Core 2 Duo or Intel Pentium Dual Core. Both of these models are optimized for using as less power as possible. It has a 6 Cell battery which I think would be upgradeable to 9 cell.Under normal work with the default 6Cell battery when fully charged, the EX5620-4025 last about 2 hours and 25 minutes and it takes from 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on the condition for the battery to get fully charged. By doing the following you can extend this time to 3 hours:

1.Turn off the wireless adapter when not in use.
2.Adjust the brightness to the environment(This helps your eyes too)
3.Fully charge and remove the battery when you want to use your laptop with the adapter plugged in. You know, every laptop battery has a life. It means for example when the battery does the charge/discharge cycle for 300 times, it is no more usable and it dies after five and less minutes, so you;d better use the adapter when you are near the socket.
4.Clean the joining metals where the battery meets the laptop. This helps so much in saving power. Dirty connectors waste some of the batter power in the way! Ypu can do this with Ethanol(normal alcohol)
