Answer Hi Rizu:
There are two methods which manufacturers use to give the buyer the ability to recover and reinstall the operating system:
1.In the first method, they'll give you a recover CD or DVD which contains the operating system and the drivers.
2.In this method, they'll occupy about 10GB of your Hard Disk Drive(HDD) for recovery and drives. In this type, if you want to recover the operating system, no Optical Disk is needed and the will not give you any CDs. I think yours is in this type. You can also check this. Go to my computer, check the used space on the partition. If it is much more than the applications' size you have installed, you have the recovery option installed on the HDD before.
You can install windows XP besides your Vista or you can delete Vista and install XP. It is your choice.
You can download drivers for your Laptop from: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3446806&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en ...
