Laptops - EXTREMELY slow laptop

Question
I have a dell Inspiron laptop. Im not sure what has happened, but it has gotten extremly slow. Now, there is slow, and then there is my laptop.... it literatly takes about 20 minutes just to turn on. Once its on, it can take up to another 20-25 minutes to get a program running. I have tried wiping out the computer and reinstalling everything, ive tried virus checks, and i even tryed to defrag the computer, however, after a month and a half of waiting for the defrag, and it was only at 17 percent... i gave up... help!!

Hi Wendy;
You have to format the hard drive and reinstall the OS.
This will help, but if this didn't work, you have a hardware problem.
If you do not know how to format and reinstall the OS or do not know how to Recover using Symantec Recovery, tell me your Inspiron model and your OS, so that I can help you.
