Answer
Hi Theja;

I am really sorry for the delay in the reply.

Most laptops around 1000$ can run CATIA and Pro/E, but you have to search for those without a shared graphics memory since you need 3D acceleration.

A 256MB dedicated is not necessary, but the more the better.Integrated graphics cards are good for your work too. Some manufacturers mention that the graphics chip they use with their laptop is Dedicated or Integrated, but if you do not find it, you can call them or ask me.

Both AMD and Intel processors are good, but Intel has done more researches, invented more technologies and has produced more processors for Laptop computers. You find most laptop computers with Intel CPUs today.Personally, I prefer Intel.Intel Core 2 Duo is the bet choice for your case.

Cooling system is designed by the manufacturer and has nothing to do with the processor.Some models have cooling problems, but you can not say that models with processors with a frequency more than 2.3GHz have cooling problems.

At the first step, do not go for Acer and lenovo while there are better models available from Dell, Sony and HP.

Here are some suggestions:
1-Dell Studio 15
2-HP Pavilion dv2800 series
3-Dell Vostro 1510

Search for the above models available configurations and let me know about your choice or any questions using my mail at: mohammad[at]wmage[dot]com
