Question
QUESTION: I bought this laptop in Dec of 07 and last the month the hard drive had to be replaced. Dell sent me the hard drive and I installed and the laptop was working fine. Now all of a sudden when I turn the laptop on the screen stays black and the caps lock (icon)light just blinks. Any advice?
ANSWER: Hi Lisa;
You have to test your parts. Remove the HDD and turn the laptop on again, if the problem exists, it is not related to the HDD. I think you have a hardware problem.

Thanks for the quick response. I removed the hard drive and turned the lap top on and still the same results. I have another laptop that is the same make and model. Should I try inserting the hard drive from one to the other and see what happens. Any advise you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Answer
If the screen is still black even with removing the HDD, the problem must be with the internal circuit. Please show your laptop to a technician or the nearest service center.I do not think you can do the steps I say and repair it yourself.
