About Lauren Bennett Expertise I am a computer science major and my dad is an Electric Engineering, so my life has revolved around computers. For as long as I can remember, I have been buying and selling computers. I tend to travel a lot, so I have always had a laptop. I have bought 5 of them for myself, and bought around 30-40 for friends and family. I have dealt with the good and the bad of various version and brand names. If you are in need of buying a laptop, feel free to contact me and I'm sure I will be able to guide you into purchasing the laptop that will be the best fit for you. I will custom build you computers for you to choose from so you can get an exact idea of what to go and buy when you do it yourself and so that you have an exact price. However, I am in the USA and am only knowledgeable about computers here in the US. I do not know about foreign currency or the quality of computer brand names outside the US.

I need to buy a laptop (currently for my software project purposes). I was initially inclined to go for a Lenovo, but later thought to decide between HP and Dell since they're been talked about most often. I had HPdv6516tx in mind. I read one'f your reviews on Dell being a better option vis-avis HP. My budget is max 1000$. Pls recommend me 1 good Dell and HP laptop so that I could decide between the two.
ANSWER: The Dell notebook is $984.00 + tax. This includes a 4 year warranty with 24/7 tech support, overnight shipping on parts, and on-site repair service.
The closest HP to that costs $1,237.98 with a slightly slower processor, a little bit more RAM (HP has the upgrade on sale - normally it way cheaper and easy to do it yourself) and HP does not have an on-site service warranty... you have to ship it it.
Let me know which route you would like to go!

QUESTION: I guess I wud prefer the Dell way. Moreover, i'm ready to expend 1500$ if its worth it. I had the Dell 1520 inspiron and XPSM1330 in mind. How does that compare with dv6500t series? Which one wud you suggest? Or dyo have better models to suggest for me?
ANSWER: Dell Inspiron 1520 or 1420. Dell just tends to be a bit more up to date with computers and with this coupon I found... you save $425 before Nov 1 so you can't beat it! Dell's tech support and customer service is also higher rated.
The Dell XPS M1330 is brand new and very expensive. I"m looking to buy it, but not until the "new" thing wears off and it goes down in price. The XPS computers are very expensive and aren't worth the extra money. The only reason I have one is because I needed a 12" screen - cost me an arm and a leg though. For most purposes, a 12" is far too small - I just only use it for travel.

QUESTION: Hi, This is a follow up to my prev question. I explored some Toshiba laptop configs, came across one model (Satellite A200 - ST2043) which gives me simillar features to Dell 1520 at a lesser rate (around 1320$). Do suggest which one to consider? Dell 1520 or the Toshiba Satellite A200 - ST2043? I also have another question. I read from a few reviews about Dell laptops not being durable beyond a year or so....is that true?
Answer All computers have about the same hardware in them. They all have Intel or AMD processors, memory, hard drives, etc. No one computer brand name has computers that last any longer than the other. Therefore, the #1 thing to look at when buying a computer is their customer service/warranty.
I buy Dell because I know that if my computer breaks, I will have someone to talk to 24/7 to resolve the problem and if it requires a part being replaced, I know a technician will be sent out to my location right away to fix it on-site.
Since when is $1320 Toshiba cheaper than $1,000 Dell?
I prefer to go with a top ranked brand name. I know Dell makes high quality, inexpensive, reliable laptops and offers a great warranty/customer service.
There has to be a reason why almost every single school and business goes with Dell for their computers too.
The Dell Inspiron 1520 is one of the best, if not the best, overall computer on the market right now.
