Question We are in the market for a new laptop and seem to have it narrowed down to two different units. One has a "5-in-1 integrated digital media reader", the other a "ExpressCard/34 slot". Can you explain why we would want one over the other?

Answer The only thing I use a media card reader for is for uploading pictures. It is handy because you can just slide in your memory card and upload pictures from any camera.
An express card slot is like a small add-in technology slot. I have personally never used it, but you could stick a wireless card in the slot. You wouldn't really need to, since they are all internal, but you could if you wanted to change it, for example. There is a large list of things you could stick in there, but I've never had a use for them.
I'd personally go with the media card reader as I think it is more useful.
