About Lauren Bennett Expertise I am a computer science major and my dad is an Electric Engineering, so my life has revolved around computers. For as long as I can remember, I have been buying and selling computers. I tend to travel a lot, so I have always had a laptop. I have bought 5 of them for myself, and bought around 30-40 for friends and family. I have dealt with the good and the bad of various version and brand names. If you are in need of buying a laptop, feel free to contact me and I'm sure I will be able to guide you into purchasing the laptop that will be the best fit for you. I will custom build you computers for you to choose from so you can get an exact idea of what to go and buy when you do it yourself and so that you have an exact price. However, I am in the USA and am only knowledgeable about computers here in the US. I do not know about foreign currency or the quality of computer brand names outside the US.

Question I have purchased a Toshiba Satellite A100-VA7 laptop but am having problems with it. I want to know if the specs are good enough to keep it and have it repaired or exchange it for another laptop either another Toshiba or HP. Also want to know if having a faster processor like Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83GHz with 1GB memory is more important or keeping the one i have with T5200 1.6GHz laptop since it has 2GB memory.
here is the website for the Toshiba i have : http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10084126&catid=2035...
Answer Unless you are to upgrade to a core 2 duo at 2.0 GHz or faster (doubles your cache) you are better off staying with what you have.
From the way you wrote your question, I'm going to assume you bought it recently. According to Toshiba's website, all their laptops come with a one year warranty so anything that goes wrong with the laptop within a year can be fixed by Toshiba for free. I always recommend getting a 3-4 year warranty (only costs about $200) and covers everything that goes wrong.
I've previously owned Toshiba, HP, Mac, Gateway, Asus, and Acer and now strictly go with Dell for a multitude of reasons. With mine, if anything goes wrong for the first 4 years I own it, a Dell tech will come to me, wherever I am, within 24 hours of my complaint and fix it. They even did it for ONE pixel out on my LCD screen! I wouldn't buy a laptop without a warranty on it. Mine came standard with accidental damage too (which means if I drop it or spill something on it, it is covered and if i lose it, they'll find it and get it back).
Your computer with the 1.6GHz and 2 GB of RAM is better than the 1.83 GHz with 1 GB fo RAM assuming they are both core 2 duo. i would only change if you were getting an HP (2nd best maker of laptops out there) and a warranty of a few years with it and it wouldn't cost you a lot more (you could sell yours).
The only downfall to your laptop is that you have the smaller battery so I would vote on keeping yours.
