I need an urgent interview with an IT expert. I was just assigned an article about travelling with laptops and I need an interview by tonight or tomorrow morning at the very latest.
Is there anyway you can help?
I need these questions answered:
1. Is it safe to travel with your laptop?
2. What things can you do to protect your laptop while flying?
3. Please share tips to make travelling with a laptop easier.
4. A friend of mine was recently detained when they flew from Saudi Arabia to the US. There laptop was opened and the programs were searched to ensure they were registered. However, customs officials discovered that the programs were not registered and were obtained illegally via pirated CD's. So, is searching the contents of the laptop legal and is it done routinely? What can travellers do? Do they have to delete the entire program and face losing important documents??
~Please share any other tips you can think of!!
Please provide your full name, location, and occupation. And can you e-mail me at Abidhjs@msn.com
Answer Hi Heather;
I will be happy if I can help you.
First I answer your question:
We have international software law, so if your software is not registered and you want to go to a country which has software law, they might stop you in the airport.
There is something worse than that, if you get connected to the Internet with an unregistered operating system, the police can obtain you(This case happened the year before in Germany for a friend of mine).But there is something else too, the police can not investigate your documents on you personal computer, but they unfortunately do this.They can just check your Operating System.
And one another thing, some countries do not obey software laws.For example if you want to travel from Iran to Saudi Arabia, they may not check you Laptop.
My father's university field is Law and he is a Law Consulter, so I can ask him for the laws for traveling with a Laptop.
You know, English is my second language, so I can write in English easier than speaking it.You can choose between these two ways for the interview.
And one question:
Which organization do you write the review for and how long must the review be?
