About Lauren Bennett
Expertise
I am a computer science major and my dad is an Electric Engineering, so my life has revolved around computers. For as long as I can remember, I have been buying and selling computers. I tend to travel a lot, so I have always had a laptop. I have bought 5 of them for myself, and bought around 30-40 for friends and family. I have dealt with the good and the bad of various version and brand names. If you are in need of buying a laptop, feel free to contact me and I'm sure I will be able to guide you into purchasing the laptop that will be the best fit for you. I will custom build you computers for you to choose from so you can get an exact idea of what to go and buy when you do it yourself and so that you have an exact price. However, I am in the USA and am only knowledgeable about computers here in the US. I do not know about foreign currency or the quality of computer brand names outside the US.

Question
I am currently shopping around for a laptop to best fit my needs. My primary needs are mostly entertainment, but also some home/business use.  I also will be using it for the internet. what should I be looking for to get the best efficiency at a good price?

Answer
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (any speed)
1 GB of RAM
256 MB video card
Vista Home Premium
CD/DVD Burner

I would check out the Dell Inspiron E1505.  It has a 15" screen so it is big enough to use on a daily basis and see everything pretty large, but also small enough to carry around.  The Inspirons are entertainment oriented and Vista Home Premium will come with Media Center.

A lot of my previous answers go very in-depth into the various computer brand names out there and my reasons why I suggest what I do.

The basics are that Dell sells the most computers, has the most reliable computers, the best valued computers, and the best warranty/tech support.

I'd recommend looking into the 3 or 4 year PC Care Bundles.   You get the 24/7 tech support, overnight shipping, at home repair service, accidental damage coverage, and theft recovery.  It is very very useful and you save an additional 7% to 10% for getting it.

In addition, regularly check out

for great coupons to use on your Dell computers!

Start looking around on their website with some of the ideas I gave you and get back to me with what you think, what you like, what you don't like, and any other questions you have and we'll go from there :)
