About Lauren Bennett
Expertise I am a computer science major and my dad is an Electric Engineering, so my life has revolved around computers. For as long as I can remember, I have been buying and selling computers. I tend to travel a lot, so I have always had a laptop. I have bought 5 of them for myself, and bought around 30-40 for friends and family. I have dealt with the good and the bad of various version and brand names. If you are in need of buying a laptop, feel free to contact me and I'm sure I will be able to guide you into purchasing the laptop that will be the best fit for you. I will custom build you computers for you to choose from so you can get an exact idea of what to go and buy when you do it yourself and so that you have an exact price. However, I am in the USA and am only knowledgeable about computers here in the US. I do not know about foreign currency or the quality of computer brand names outside the US.

Question Hi,
I would like to buy a laptop up to $1000 to my daughter who goes to a colledge, to make easier her study and give some entertaining abilities.
What are your recommendations?
Appreciate in advance.
Sincerely,
Andre
Answer I would look at the Dell Inspiron 1521. It is a great all-around computer for a college student. You can customize it to stay within your budget and I have some coupons to help
I would recommend getting a warranty for the length of her stay at college because then her computer will be guaranteed to work, she'll have 24/7 access to tech support, and on-site repair service so he never loses her computer. If she is going to be traveling with it, I would recommend the accidental damage protection as well. This way, if she were to slip on ice and drop it, spill something in it, or anything of that nature, it is also fully covered. It costs a lot extra up front but it so nice to have that full guarantee for up to 4 years.
Here is a coupon to help you out:
Use code ZDWPS9CZT37LLB to save $300 off any $1,199.00+ Dell Inspiron notebook. (valid 12/6/2007 12:00:00 AM - 12/13/2007 11:59:59 PM)
If it expires before you get a chance to use it, let me know and I will find you another one.
Things you definitely need:
-Vista Home Premium (maybe Ultimate). Just don't get Basic or Business because it lacks all entertainment features. If her school says that you HAVE to have Business to get on their Internet, then get Ultimate - it is the same as Business but also includes entertainment features
-2 GB of RAM
-9 cell battery
The rest of the stuff is sorta what you can afford. I'd recommend upgrading the processor a little bit too.
If you have any questions or would like additional information on configurations, feel free to write back!!
