About Lauren Bennett Expertise I am a computer science major and my dad is an Electric Engineering, so my life has revolved around computers. For as long as I can remember, I have been buying and selling computers. I tend to travel a lot, so I have always had a laptop. I have bought 5 of them for myself, and bought around 30-40 for friends and family. I have dealt with the good and the bad of various version and brand names. If you are in need of buying a laptop, feel free to contact me and I'm sure I will be able to guide you into purchasing the laptop that will be the best fit for you. I will custom build you computers for you to choose from so you can get an exact idea of what to go and buy when you do it yourself and so that you have an exact price. However, I am in the USA and am only knowledgeable about computers here in the US. I do not know about foreign currency or the quality of computer brand names outside the US.

I am going to school for web/graphic design and I want to buy laptop that can support all the applications i will be using: all photoshop programs, flash, dreamweaevr, indesign, adobe , illustrator etc.. I want something that will be fast and that will have good screen color resolution. I was told that a Mac is best, but i just wanted to get some other suggestions on which laptop company would be good as well? so if any on can help me that would be great!!!!!
thanks
ANSWER: If you have a lot of money to spend, are willing to sacrifice a decent warranty, and are willing to sacrifice the ability to do most other tasks, yes a Mac is better strictly for the graphic design purposes. However, a PC would also function very well.
How much were you hoping to spend on this laptop? Would you be willing to spend an extra $200 to get a full 4 year warranty with 24/7 tech support and on-site service? Keep in mind that you will have to get a pretty fancy computer to fully support all these programs.
Also, you can get up to 12% off with Dell and HP because you are a student, but I can probably get you more off on a Dell with coupons.
Do you do any gaming?

QUESTION: well i will be using it mainly for the applications, except for little things like emails and maybe microsoft programs.
I hope to save a little money thats why i was wondering if pc's run as well as a mac does on these programs. but if the mac will do the job without giving me too mmany problems then i will opt for that.
also, I did some research and was wondering about the tablet pc's and how that would be useful in my needs, if at all?
thanks,
sorry for the many questions
Answer I run a ton of Adobe products on my PC because I do web design on the side for fun and some extra cash. I personally prefer PCs greatly over Macs and I haven't figured out what all the craze is about.
If you ever find you have a need for a tablet PC, you can buy a mouse pad looking thing that works the exact same way. I think you could find it useful, but since your school recommends a Mac (who does not offer a Tablet PC), I think it is safe to say that you won't need it. If you ever want it though, that is a nice way to get a similar feature without having to limit your options with a Tablet PC.
You are looking at about $1,500 for a high end 15" HD screen laptop. Includes things like 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 256 MB graphics card, 120 GB hard drive, 4 year warranty with on-site repair service, new N wireless card, CD/DVD burner/player, and a high end battery. This also includes $75 in Dell dollars and a $200 Dell gift card. You could practically get yourself a 24" monitor down the road for free :) Or a camera, docking station, etc.
Let me know what you think about that!! I configured a similar Mac for around $2,400 but I don't know what type of wireless card or battery it has because they don't let you select those options. Also, Mac laptops do NOT come with any sort of graphics card and do not have the ability to get one.
So, where would you like to go from here? That deal above on the Dell laptop expires on December 6.
