Las Vegas - free parking in Las Vegas

Expert: Laine Wightman - 10/6/2008

Question
I am traveling alone to Vegas and am renting a car.I was told that if I go to any hotel, there will be free parking with valet parking service. Is this true? I am nervous about self parking.

Answer
Hi Wendy,
Any of the casino/hotels will have valet parking.  It is free, but on the way out, it is common to tip the person that brings you your car anywhere from a dollar to ??????  Most of the large casino/hotels also have parking garages with free parking. Some of them have outside lots, but you have to drive around the hotel to find them.  If I go alone, I usually use valet, but have used lots during the day.  I do not use parking garages at night when by myself.  If you are going to any of the hotels that have casinos, just follow the directions to Valet Parking.  It is pretty self explanatory when you get there.  You just pull your car up to the stopping point and wait for the Valet attendant to come out, take your name and give you a ticket, which you present when you come out, so they'll know which car is yours.  Don't lose your ticket.........it's a hassle to get your car when you do, speaking from experience! :)  Also, be sure and leave your keys in the car.  Don't leave any valuables in the car, as there have been instances of dishonest valets.  It's not very common, because they are usually too busy to have time to go through cars, and most people are honest, but it does happen.
Valet parking is very safe.  We even have valet parking at the Malls, Medical Buildings and Hospitals...........that's all really nice when it's especially hot or cold.
If you have any other questions, please write again.  I hope you have a wonderful time!
