Las Vegas - room reservation for a 20 year old

Expert: Tom - 10/2/2008

Question
I am 20 years old and looking to spend spring break in Vegas.  Are there any hotels on the strip that i can make a reservation at?  Specifically do you know if the stratosphere and Excalibur allow 20 year olds to book rooms?  thank you

Answer
Hey Jen,

Sorry it took a little longer than usual to answer this question - I sent a note to Stratosphere asking about their policy and they never responded...

Anyway, I had always been under the impression that hotels who operate casinos were not allowed to have guests under 21 rent rooms. I thought that was an NGC (Nevada Gaming Commission) rule that everyone had to follow.

But it turns out that while most hotels in Vegas require a 21+ person to reserve a room, there are a couple that will allow 18+ to reserve. Unfortunately, the Strat and Excal are not in that group. However, there are some strip hotels that do: MGM, Tropicana, Luxor, LV Hilton and Riviera all are listed as accepting 18+ guests.

There are others around town, but those are the main ones on the strip.

For the full list check out vegas.com, and click each hotel's description and scroll to the bottom where it displays the minimum age:

Hope that helps. Have fun on your Spring Break!
Tom
