Question Hi Laine....Iknow 13 years olds cannot gamble, but are they allowed in the casino....just to overlook someone playing slots????? Thanks. Barbara
Answer Hi Barbara,
The legal age for gambling and drinking alchohol is 21, as you know. Children under 21 are not allowed in casinos EXCEPT for traveling through, on the main walkways, to get to a restaurant, a movie, their room, or a pool. What we were told by a security guard, when we had our 13 year old granddaughter with us one day, is that kids must be at least 8 feet from any gaming machine and may not stand to watch, they have to be "traveling" through. I know that the Bellagio does not even allow anyone under 18 in their establishment unless they are registered guests. There are signs posted to that effect at the entrance.
There are arcades in almost every hotel where young people are allowed. There is also a curfew, which I THINK is 10:00pm in Las Vegas. Do check with your hotel. I think that kids can be out later if they are with their parent or guardian.
Casinos can lose their gambling licenses if they do not follow these rules, so they are pretty strict.
If you need some ideas of some things that you and your 13 year old can do together, please write back.
Hope you have a great time!
Laine
