Las Vegas - My mum's 60th b-day

Expert: Tom - 6/22/2008

Question
Hi...it's my mum's 60th b-day Feb.22, 2009 and we want to take her to Las Vegas. Are there any special services offered to make her day extra-special? I know she loves the TV show 'Dancing With The Stars' as well as 60's rock and roll with a milkshake. We want to invite my grandma and my two year old niece so the day's events should be family orientated.

Answer
Hi Robyn,

I have some ideas on how to make a Vegas trip extra special, but I'm not sure if they match exactly with the interests you mentioned. Here are some thoughts:

For a 1950's/60's rock and roll experience, you might try a restaurant called Johnny Rockets. Its a chain that re-creates the 1950's drive-in diner and plays music from the Elvis era. There's a Johnny Rockets on Paradise Road not too far from the strip - here's their website:
http://www.johnnyrockets.com

Another place to visit for rock n roll memorabilia would be the Hard Rock Cafe at the corner of Paradise and Harmon Ave. Here's a link to that page:

There's a new broadway style show that just opened at the Palazzo Resort called Jersey Boys which is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and it has lots of 50's, 60's and 70's music throughout. There's dancing and drama, so your family should enjoy it. Here's the site:

OTHER IDEAS for a SPECIAL TRIP:

Take a helicopter ride up the strip:

Eat at a rooftop restaurant:

Ride the Double Decker Deuce Bus up the strip:

Take a limousine from the airport, or just around town:

Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower:

Get a backstage tour of Mirage's Dolphin Show:

Hope that gets you started!
If you need anything else let me know, and have a great trip!

Tom
