Expertise
I can answer any questions on any Vegas casino and their amenities, I can tell you how to get the best rates and the best rooms and advise on which hotel is best for you. I can advise on all aspects of gaming, and comping. I am an expert in buffet dining (and it shows ;-), on trips from Vegas as well as shows and other entertainments in the City. I can also advise on travel from the UK when to go, what to do and what not to do and can suggest other places to visit alongside a Vegas holiday.

Experience
I have been to Vegas on over a dozen occasions and have stayed in many hotels on and off strip, this includes an almost totally comped 5 night stay at NYNY without gambling more than $25 per hand ! I have almost every book ever published on Las Vegas and continually read everything I can both on and off line on it.

Question
Hi, I am turning 21 on January 8th and I know that I want to spend my birthday in Vegas along with a bunch of friends. I was thinking about going out on the 8th (a Thursday) and staying 2 nights and coming home Saturday. I wanted to know where the best place to stay would be because I've heard that not all of the hotels are located close to the nightclubs which is where I plan on spending most of my time. Is there any way to get an estimate of the cost per person for the entire stay(including everything from flight to drinks to room). Also, when and where i should book my flight to get the best prices.  One more question, I've heard of people hiring a party planning agency type thing and I was wondering if its really worth it. I know I'm asking a lot of questions and even if you can only answer a couple it will really help. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Courtney

Wow 21st in Vegas how cool is that, I wish I had been able to have mine there ;) Firstly all of your friends must be 21 or older or they will miss out on the fun they will get carded and fakes don’t work so well in Vegas.

It’s a good idea to come home on the Saturday, Friday and Saturday nights can cost 3 times as much as in the week. You are lucky that once New Year is out of the way that those few weeks at the beginning of January are some of the cheapest weeks in Vegas so you should be able to get yourself a bargain. I think it’s important to stay on the Strip and as you rightly said all of the Hotels have nightclubs so the location beyond that is no so important though you should not go further North than Wynn or TI. You also don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a great hotel, as its winter you won’t need a pool and that is really the only thing you can’t use at a hotel that you are not staying at. I would probably recommend MGM Grand, very big comftable hotel with a nice number of great bars, Mirage lovely hotel real luxury at good prices, Luxor cheap and a bit tired at the edges but great clubs and bars. If you wanted to save money you could stay at Excalibur and use the bars in NYNY and MGM and Luxor and just sleep there this would be the cheapest option. When you book your hotel book it direct with them this way you get the best rate and unless you book a non refundable rate you can cancel or change it up to 48 hours before check in and if the rate drops after you book it you call them up and they will adjust the rate. If you look at my Blog http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com all the hotel offers are direct with the hotels.

The best way to party by far is Nitetours, my friend Darin owns it so I may be biased it will take you to 3 top bars and clubs no cover, no standing in line, and free beer, coolers and champagne in the limo between clubs you really can not beat have a look here  http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/new-nite-tours-club-crawl-package...

I can’t help you with flights I am afraid I live in the UK and I am not an expert on internal US flights.

I hope this helps you and that you have a blast
Simon
