Question Hi Laine,
Hope you are well, just have a question regarding Las Vegas shows. Last time we went the only show we saw was the fantasy show at the Luxor which we thought was very good for obvious reasons lol. We are planning to go see that again for my friends birthday but can you recommend any other shows as well, we are quite open minded about what we see but we would like to see more than the 1 we saw last time. Also is it better to book tickets before we go or when we get to Vegas and roughly what are the prices for show tickets, many thanks for any help,
thanks
Mike
Answer Hi Mike,
I'm not sure that I know just what kind of shows you are looking for. I'm also not sure what will be playing when you get here. I can tell you that we think the CirqueDSoleil shows are fabulous. I have heard only bad reviews of the Chris Angel one at the Luxor, though. All the rest of them: Mystere, Love (Beatles themed), "O", and Ka draw rave reviews. The one at NYNY is rather "adult" and may not be a good choice for a bunch of guys. Not that you aren't adults, but I understand it's a very sensuous show and very good for couples. We loved Terry Fator, the ventriloquist at the Mirage. We loved Jersey Boys at the Palazzo. Blue Man Group is always a crowd pleaser. We haven't seen the Lion King. We are seeing Bette Midler at Caesars next month, but haven't seen it yet. Garth Brooks has just signed a contract with Wynn, and he will be appearing on various weekends through the year. Donnie and Marie are appearing at the Flamingo, but we haven't seen them yet, either. Most of the "Las Vegas" type shows are gone, but Bally's still has Jubilee with the topless showgirls, the feathered headresses, etc. For the good shows, the prominent artists, prepare to pay from $100 up. All of Garth Brooks tickets are $125 plus tax. You'll have to start checking hotel web sites about six months out to make sure who is going to be appearing where. It will not be too early to book tickets as soon as you have your plans finalized as some of the more popular shows sell out every night.
The web site I sent you before:
http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/features/index.jsp
gives you the opportunity to plug in the dates of your visit, and gives you the shows that are known to be here at that time. You can read about them and decide what you want to see. There are afternoon shows as well as all of the night time ones. There are also clubs and exhibits listed.
The afternoon shows are much less expensive than the night time ones, but the performers are not the A list entertainers. Some of the hotels off the Strip have good entertainment too,and you might want to check their websites: The Orleans, M, SouthPoint, Palms, Rio, The Suncoast, and Sams Town are a few. There are shuttles between the Strip and some of those hotels.
I hope this has given you some ideas, and a resource for you to check out the shows available ON YOUR DATES. I also hope you find several shows which are of interest to you.
Laine
