Experience I have traveled to Las Vegas for personal travel over 25 times in the past 5 years and stayed at about a dozen hotels. I have been inside most of the big hotels, on the strip as well as downtown. I know how to do Vegas first class as well as on a budget. I have two sets of relatives that live in Las Vegas.

Question Will be staying at the Venetian Super Bowl weekend. I play a lot of blackjack and minimum bet is usually $10.00. If winning, I typically increase bet incrementially.
My wife (she plays/bets about same as I do)would like to attend a Super Bowl party to avoid crowds in bar, lounges, etc. if at all possible. Any suggestions?
Also, do you know if all/most of this casinos blackjack tables use a machine to shuffle? If so, can you recommend another casino nearby that doesn't?
Thanks for your input!
Answer John,
First of all, I believe the Venetian to be the most spectacular hotel in Vegas. However, spectacular hotel translates into horrible gambling. For Super Bowl weekend, I'd be shocked if you were able to sit down at a blackjack table at the Venetian for $10. Never fear, cheaper casinos are near. The cheap casino on the strip no one knows about is about 2 blocks from the Venetian, called Casino Royale. It is pretty dumpy, but you will find $5 and $10 tables, and even a few that are hand shuffled. In fact, the last time I was at that casino, the dealers still looked under the hole card themselves, instead of electronically. Your betting strategy sounds good, that is the way I also play, called "winning progression". For a Super Bowl party??...Not sure what you had in mind. Usually, the hotel you are staying at will offer guests a package that might include food and a "VIP" seat to watch the game in their sportsbook or banquet room. You may want to check into that.
General Rule: Larger/higher price casinos mostly use self shuffling machines to cut down on down time and earn more money for the casino. If you want a choice between a few double deck games or even single deck, your best bet is to go downtown or hit some of the local casinos: Gold Coast (across from the Rio), Jokers Wild (Boulder Hwy). For strip gambling, oddly enough, the Luxor and Excaliber seem to have the better blackjack tables...not sure why that is.
hope this helps...good luck and GO PATS! (I live in New England)
