Laser Eye Surgery - laser surgery after lens replacement
Expert: Dr Anand Shroff, MD, FICS - 10/6/2008
Question QUESTION: Is it possible to get laser after having glaucoma lens replacement? If possible what is the risk of dislodging the replacement lens?
ANSWER: Dear Steve,
The Galucoma surgery and lens replacement are two separate issues. Also, there are different lasers in eye care for different conditions...which one are you refering to?
This will help me suggest more specifically.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Dr Anand Shroff, MS (OPHTH), FICS

QUESTION: I realized that I stated Glaucoma instead of cataract surgery and was actually looking to inquire about laser surgery after lens replacement to eliminate glasses. Is this possible or even realistic?
Answer Dear Steve,
With new advanced lenses you can eliminate the need for glasses for both distant as well as near focusses. Speak to your treating doctor regarding Multifocal lens implants.
Yes, LASIK can be done after a cataract surgery, but when 'two birds' viz cataract and glasses can be 'killed' viz treated with 'one stone' viz Multifocal implants it is a cost benefit in the long run.
You may read more about these lenses on the website www.shroffeye.org under Cataract
