Question Hi- thanks for volunteering. I'm writing for a friend who I think needs more info for the decision she's making. She has PSC Cataracts, which I understand degenerates quickly. I'm suggesting that she cash in a 401k and get the surgery ASAP. But she says she'd rather wait until her insurance will pay for the surgery. They say her condition has to be worse before they will pay for the surgery. She's been told she could be totally blind in 5 years. I'm very uncomfortable for her that she is waiting, and for an insurance company at that!
What do you think? Are there specific degrees that you can tell me about, like grade 1 or grade 2 or something? I'm wanting to know how serious PSC cataracts can get as she's waiting for her insurance to pay.
Any advice is appreciated!

Answer Dificult to say on a consultation like this Lisa... however, if her vision is markedly poor in bright sunlight or with on coming headlights at night - then she should get the cataracts removed. I cannot comment on 410 k or insurance as i am not from your country. i know however that the insurance and reimbursement situation in America is a mess!
Best regards
