Laser Eye Surgery - problem after lasek

Expert: Dr Anand Shroff, MD, FICS - 2/22/2008

Question
Hi.I had my lasek surgery 1 month a go.everything went well for my right eye.and my vision is getting better and better.but after my doctor removed the dressing lens(I dont know what exactly you call it)of my left eye after80 hours ;I noticed my left eye vision was nice but i was seeing a blur spot on a nice background.  so i visit him again and he said it was my excess cornea epithelium and removed it very easily.after 10 days my left eye didnt get better.my vision became completely blur. so my doctor examined it again and said the epithelial grew again on all over my cornea surface.!!! and he should remove it in a more aggressive way. then he put a lens in my left eye and removed it after 4 days.my vision is getting better but it isnt as nice as my right eye.i dont see that blur spot any more.but i think i might need glasses for my left eye again.i cant see very good farther than 3 meters. what is wrong with my left eye? does it get better?

Answer
Dear Sanaz,

Now that the epithelial problem is sorted out, the eye will start healing. I presume the doctor has given you steroid eye drops to settle the eye, since it has been handled more than once.

Please wait - now is not the time to focus on the vision. Finish the eye drop course. About 3 months after the last procedure might be the right time to check the eye for any need for glasses.

Hope this helps,

Dr Anand Shroff, MD, FICS
