Question QUESTION: My son had an accident 5 years ago which left him blind from his left eye . he has never been able to wear his prostatic eye with out discomfort. Can you please explain what they mean by desensitizing of the eye with alcohol..

I am extremely sorry to hear about your son
basically absolute alcohol is injected to artificially cause damage to all the sensitizing nerves so once nerves don't carry the impulses the sensation disappears and he will be able to tolerate the prosthetic eye
also second solution they put a ball inside the remaining structure and put conformer over it and if possible it can be mobile artificial eye also

QUESTION: thank you for explaining it to me. If you could explain something else they also said that he could put a blind over his pupil which might not work because of the many surgery's he has had in the past. can you explain this a little better? He also said the alcohol solution is very painful and would hurt for at least one month. I just need an opinion on which one would be better.

since he is not able to tolerate artificial eye they have told you about this covering of the pupil it is same as artificial eye like contact lens to be put over the shrunk eyeball since the curvature is uneven this may not stabilize
alcohol solution maybe painful for maybe 2-3 weeks but that the only solution if he is not able to tolerate artificial eyes
