Question I went to see a Dr yesterday who suggested that it maybe a good idea for me to have IOL for my astigmatism. Could you tell me how effective this treatment is? I get better vision with contact lenses than I do with glasses, would IOLs give the same quality of vision that contact lenses do?
ie i see multiple images with glasses, especially when looking at white and bright objects
Answer Dear Jannet,
Only the eye doctor who examined your eyes will know what will suit you better discussing with you your lifestyle, age and even depending on what numbers you currently have.
Astigmatism has limitations even in IOL's so discuss the visual expectation with your doctor.
Usually IOL's are done above age 45 and more, when necessary.
ICL is implantable contact lenses,used when we put lenses in the eye without removing natural lens (which is what is done in IOL) so please make sure of what technology you are asking the query about.
