Expert: Dr Anand Shroff, MD, FICS - 10/26/2009
Question Hi,
My name is Shaesta, Im 25 years old. I need to know if there is any method to rectify a squint- (by birth)
Medical History: I had a mature catract by birth, the catract was needled when I was 2 months old- I have no sight in my right eye.
Would like to know if there are any permanent ways to get rid of the squint-- will botox help??...Consulted a cosmetic surgeon- but I dont want a lens covering my eye...Hope this information helps you help me.
Thank you.
Shaesta.
Answer Dear Shaesta,
Squints need thorough evaluationas the choice of treatment depends on a lot of factors. yes, Botox is used sometimes if the squint is transient and superficial in nature.
Permanent ways are surgery on the muscles of the eyes, but one cannot tell exactly what unless examined.
If in Mumbai and you want to come in for a check, please write to dranand@lasikindia.in for further details. You may read about us and squint procedure on www.shroffeye.org
Best,
