Question
Sir,
I had very high fever when I was 4 or 5 years old. The doctors said I had T.B. and treated me for that but on the contrary I had my levers swollen for about 4 fingers. It was finally diagnosed and I became alright.
Years after that....
I was in Std I when my parents realized that I have crossed eyes...i.e. SQUINT (Strabismus). I had to use +8 Eyeglasses.
Right now I am a graduate and I still use a +6.75 Glasses.
I am curious that is there anyway where by I can get my eyes operated.
Can I get rid of spectacles?

Dear Aditya,
Squint or Strabismus needs to be treated independently from your spectacle powers (which is through LASIK).
The squint needs to be evaluated for the amount of deviation, number of muscle involvement etc.
Squint is usually best corrected in childhood, where not only is there lesser chance of recurrence, but even the amblyopia orlazy eye if sets in can get corrected.
In adults the rate of recurrence is higher after surgery since the eye muscles are fully developed and also have more strength to undo what is corrected by surgery.
hence, it is only an opinion after examination with a good strabismus surgeon who also does LASIK that will guide you better.
We have performed strabismus correction in patients after 3 months of treating their numbers via LASIK.
