Latin - History

Question
WHAT IS THE OLD LATIN OR CLASSICAL LATIN WORD FOR HISTORY?

Answer
In classical Latin, the word "historia"  can mean *a* history, that is an account of some event, an historical narrative.  If you want to use history in a more generic sense, e.g., as a topic, you would use another expression, such as "res gestae" (literally, historical events).
