Latin - Volare

Expert: Maria - 10/13/2008

Question
I am searching for any Latin quote that includes the word "volare" (or some other form of that word). No idea where to start looking. It's something I want to put on a business card to suggest success. Any ideas? Thanks, Maria.

Answer
Hello,

if you are looking for a Latin sentence that includes the Latin verb  "volare" (literally, 'to fly') and serves to suggest success, as you say, I think you could use one of the following phrases:

-“Volat successus” (literally, “Success flies high”)

-“Mea volat fama” (literally, “My reputation spreads everywhere")

-“Nostra volat fama” (literally, “Our reputation spreads everywhere”)

Hope the above Latin sentences  can be helpful to you, though none of them is a  quotation from a Latin author, but only an adaptation of some quotes like  e.g. “Volat ventus” / “Volat navis” /“Volat fama” we read in Virgil.

Best regards,
Maria
