Question
Just for fun, I want to know what our school motto is in Latin. Could you please tell me how to say, "Our destiny is to excel" in Latin? The motto is somewhat ironic, though, as most of the kids are under-achiecing...

Answer
Hello,

“Excellere fatum est nostrum” is the translation of “Our destiny is to excel".

Note that  EXCELLERE is “to excel”; FATUM (neuter noun in the nominative) is “destiny”; EST (from SUM, I am) means “is”, and NOSTRUM (nominative neuter of NOSTER agreed with FATUM) is “our”.

As you can see, Latin word order can be different from English.

Have a nice day,
Maria
