Question Hello there, I recently asked for a few latin translations and you were curious as to if they were for tattoos. I just wanted to assure you that this is not the reason for my inquiry [I'm terrified of needles therefore tattoos are out of the question for me!]
I simply wanted these translations to create a new email and screenname for my messenger. I belive that latin phrases are very interesting and the following word and phrases hold meaning to me, but I did not want to create a username without knowing the proper translation. I have not chosen which phrase/word I will use but I will decide between the few that I asked. Thank you for your time and concern, here are the phrases/words again:
-"Dream"
-"follow your dreams"
-"follow your star"
-"live,love,dream"
and I would like to add one more:
-"live life"
Your time is much appreciated!
Answer Hello Tiara,
Firstly I thank you so much for assuring me that the reason of your question is not a tattoo.
So, having said this, here are the translations you asked me:
1-"Dream"= “Somnia!” or “Magna specta!”(literally, “Have great aspirations”).
2-"Follow your dreams"= “Tua sequere somnia”
3-"Follow your star" = "Tuum sequere astrum!”
4-"Live,love,dream"= "Vive, ama, somnia!” or “Vive, ama, magna specta!”
5-"Live life " = "Vive vitam!
See below for grammatical analysis.
All the best,
Maria

Note that:
-Dream! = SOMNIA! (2nd.person singular, imperative of SOMNIO, I dream) or MAGNA SPECTA where MAGNA (accusative neuter plural) means ‘great aspirations’ and SPECTA (2nd.person singular, imperative of SPECTO) is ‘have’.
In Latin in fact the verb ‘somniare’ (to dream) is mostly related to a dream in sleep, not to the idea of having a deep, great aspiration, as you mean when you use “Dream”.

-Follow = SEQUERE (2nd.person singular, imperative of the deponent verb SEQUOR, I follow)
-your = TUA ( direct object in the accusative neuter plural of the adjective TUUS, agreed with SOMNIA)
-dreams= SOMNIA (direct object in the accusative neuter plural of the noun SOMNIUM, 2nd.declension)

-Follow = SEQUERE (see above)
-your = TUUM (direct object in the accusative neuter singular of TUUS agreed with ASTRUM)
-star = ASTRUM (direct object in the accusative neuter singular, 2nd.declension)
