Latin - stars

Expert: Maria - 5/25/2008

Question
Hello Maria, I am looking for help translating from English to Latin.

"I am of the stars"

As in, we come from the stars, are made up of matter found in every corner
of the universe...as in, we are all of the same.

Working on a company slogan, and I want to be sure it is reading correctly.

Any help is appreciated!  Thank you!

Answer
Hello,

I am sorry, but the only acceptable Latin translation could be “Ex astris venimus” in the 1st.person plural / "Ex astris venio" in the 1st.person singular,  just in the sense of ‘we come from the stars”/ "I come from the stars".

As for "I am of the stars" as “we are made up of matter found in every corner  of the universe”/” we are all of the same”, such a sentence cannot be translated simply because any translation would make no sense at all in Latin, though grammatically correct.

Best regards,
Maria
